OPEN STUDIO
ARTES open studio offers art classes in a variety of technical possibilities, we accept beginner, medium or advanced levels. Experienced painters can use the studio as their own having the option to request support or help when they need it.
EMPEZARTE
is a non-profit organization within the open ARTES studio. We support children from 9 to 14 years old with Art Therapy. It was developed in collaboration with the Foundation for Child Support (FAI), a foundation for the support of minors in San Miguel de Allende.
OSCAR AGUIRRE
ARTES Director, Oscar Aguirre has lived and worked and taught students of all ages in San Miguel de Allende for nearly 25 years. Classically trained, he has exhibited widely in museums throughout Mexico, the United States and Europe and through prestigious venues., he has conducted innumerable workshops and arts-education events throughout San Miguel and other cities.
PHILIP
ALVARÉ
As a writer, editor, art director and producer of electronic and print media, I combine language and image. As a painter, I’m interested in the interaction of color, mark making, hieroglyphs, Chinese calligraphy, Maya codices, Mudéjar geometries, graffiti and so-called asemic writing (that can have zero meaning, or infinite meanings). I am also bilingual and bicultural and often find myself in the space between two worlds.
